Heather Coleman, LCSW
Heather Coleman, LCSW has been providing psychotherapy in New York City for the past 17 years in various settings, including outpatient care and private practice. She has provided quality and compassionate care to New Yorkers struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma (and now Covid related trauma!), relationship & codependency issues, health concerns, parenting and life transitions. She knows the ins and outs of therapy for Adult Children of Alcoholics and those from dysfunctional family systems (with narcissistic parents or those with mental illness). She has worked with all patterns, especially those that stunt your growth and keep you from living a full life.
Heather is well-versed in different therapeutic methods and takes a present-centric and mindfulness-based approach to the work. She uses creative practices through gestalt methods or parts work to tailor a therapy that works for you. She can also use the body and sensations as a guide to go deeper in the work— visualizations, meditations, trauma interventions, and other modes of nervous system regulation may be added to the process as needed. Clients often report they feel freer, happier and their lives have become more manageable.
Many clients appreciate the warmth brought to the work, though she also brings a practical approach with honesty and authenticity that safely invites you to do the same.
